2000       1990       1980       1970       1960       1950

The past several seasons have been particularly notable for The Foundry Players. Last year, we were thrilled and delighted that our production of The Laramie Project received the 2004-2005 Ruby Griffith Award for "2nd Runner-Up for Outstanding Production of a Play", adding to our 2003-2004 Ruby Griffith Award for "2nd Runner-Up for Outstanding Production of a Play" (Our Town); our 2002-2003 Ruby Griffith Award for "Outstanding Achievement in a Musical" (Working); and our 2003 NVTA One-Act Play Festival Award for "Best Ensemble" (Stage Directions).

2005-2006 Season
We began our 59th season this past November with an exciting production of Company, a groundbreaking concept musical by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth. This production, directed by Silvio Menzano and produced by Wayne Henson, was well received by record-sized audiences and resulted in our first two WATCH nominations: Music Direction (Amy Conley) and Combat Choreography (Ashley Ivey).

Unfortunately, as often happens in theater, the plays we had selected for our February 2006 and May 2006 productions--The Dining Room and The Heidi Chronicles--both had to be postponed just before auditions due to illness. The Foundry Players does intend to produce these plays in the future, so please stay tuned for additional information.

In lieu of our planned February production, we decided to experiment with a play-reading series, entitled A Winter's Light. This was a diverse group of four plays: Mary, Mary, by Jean Kerr; Fortinbras, by Lee Blessing; Voices by Susan Griffin; and Sylvia, by A.R. Gurney. Audiences also thoroughly enjoyed seeing (and hearing) both new and familiar faces reading these funny, witty, and poignant plays.

Inspired by our February play-reading series, our mid-season replacement for our May production was Susan Griffin’s Emmy award-winning Voices, a touching and relevant "speak-cycle" for five women. This play, directed by Terri McKinstry, was cast with a diverse and talented group of actresses.

For the first time in recent memory, The Foundry Players has decided to mount a production during the summer. The Last Five Years, a musical by Jason Robert Brown, chronicles the rise and fall of one couple’s romantic relationship in a sharp witty, and humorous song cycle. Directed by Silvio Menzano, with music direction by Greg Catrett, The Last Five Years features talented and versatile performers Amy Conley and Blakeman Brophy as Cathy and Jamie. He tells the story of their relationship from beginning to end, while she tells their story from the end to the beginning.
